Opportunities-Coordinator

Status:	Full time, 40 hours per week
Reports To:	Executive Director

General Description:
This position focuses on direct services to support youth and children exposed to an array types of violence, to support caregivers with concerns about their children and parenting issues, and to support the family as a whole. The Statewide Youth and Children Outreach Coordinator also provides outreach and community education to youth deaf victims. This position carries client confidentiality privilege and will maintain confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides trauma-informed direct services to deaf clients (caregivers and children) including support, advocacy, crisis intervention, safe planning, caregiver support, information and referrals.
Facilitates children’s groups and activities.
Facilitates educational groups and support groups for caregivers.
Facilitates activities that promote caregiver/child bonding.
Consults with the Executive Director for input on high-risk situations.
Understands and utilizes principles of trauma informed care and the empowerment philosophy of advocacy.
Develops and sustains working relationships with community partners.
Provides representation at community meetings as assigned.
Provides community education presentations on topics related to children of violent homes and teen dating violence.
Assists Executive Director with monthly collection of data and statistical reports.
Maintains database for tracking client demographic and service data.
Participates in agency grant and contract reporting as directed by the Executive Director.

Required Competencies and Qualifications:

Four-year degree in social work or a related field preferred, though relevant experience is considered in lieu of a degree.
At least three years of experience working with child and caregiver trauma victims.
At least two years of experience providing advocacy or education work with Deaf people.
Experience in crisis intervention.
Experience facilitating groups and activities with children, teens and caregivers.
Experience developing and maintaining strong community partnerships.
Understanding of the impact of domestic/family violence on the child.
Knowledge of different types of violence in the Deaf community.
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google applications and databases.
Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Working Conditions:

Must have a valid driver’s license to travel to, but not limited to, client locations, training, meetings,
